Tea Olive

Located right in front of the farm house, is a Tea Olive bush. This time of year you can smell it’s sweet fragrance as you turn the corner. Tea Olive’s were brought to south from Europe. They came to Charleston first. It is not native to South Carolina. A French Botantist named Andre Michaux introduced them here in the 1700s.

The Tea Olive on the farm was here before we renovated the farm house. It is nestled under a large oak. It has one of the sweetest smells that you can imagine. It’s white blooms are large and make an intoxicating addition to the farm.
